Correspondence of the Spencer family on private, public and estate matters; early 16th cent.-1657: (a) Sir John Spencer (d.1522), early 16th cent.; - (b) Sir John Spencer (d.1586), 1566-1573; - (c) Sir John Spencer (d.1599), 1579-1595; - (d) William, 2nd Baron Spencer, and his widow, Penelope, 1627-1639; - (e) members of the Catlin family, 1583-1657.
2. Letters from Dorothy, widow of Henry Spencer, 1st Earl of Sunderland, to Sir Justinian Isham, 2nd Bart., with a draft of his replies; [circa 1650s?]. With a wrapper of Spencer House notepaper, but presumably once part of the Isham of Lamport papers, now at the Northamptonshire Record Office.
3. Prayer composed by Anne, wife of Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland, 1705, with a letter to him to be opened after her death, 1713, copies, 19th cent. For the originals, see Add. MSS 61502, f.119, and 61655, f.40.
