Althorp Papers. Vol. ccxxvi (ff. ). Correspondence and papers of Elizabeth Jett, granddaughter of John Poyntz of Benefield (1630-1712); 1683-1767, n.d. Partly copies. Relating to her claims to property on the Island of Tobago, deriving from John Poyntz. Charles Poyntz was one of legatees of Elizabeth Jett.
1. Articles of agreement between Abraham Marin, agent of the Duke of Courland, and John Poyntz and Company for a grant of 120,000 acres in Tobago for settlement and planting; 1681. Draft.
2. Deed of grant, according to the above agreement; 1682. Four copies, [17th-18th cent.?]. For a counterpart on vellum, see Althorp charters.
3. `State of the Duke of Courland's Claim to Tobago'; aft. 1731. Two copies. Describing how Poyntz was forbidden to proceed with the settlement and the Duke's title to Tobago declared void.
4. Memoranda and correspondence of Elizabeth Jett relating to her claim; 1747-1765, n.d. Partly drafts and copies.
5. Notes and copies by Elizabeth Jett of her correspondence with Thomas Parker concerning business affairs, with a few receipts; 1761-1770.
