Hayter Papers. Vol. lxii (ff. ). Lectures given by Hayter on British relations with communist countries; circa 1960s. Partly autograph, partly typewritten. The label referring to the file is in Add. 84898.
1. Lecture on Anglo-Soviet relations; annotated, 'modified version', followed by a list of venues and dates. Typewritten with autograph related notes.
2. 'The Foreign Policy of the USSR', delivered 13 Sept. 1969 to the Nato Defense College; typewritten.
3. Lecture or article on Soviet Foreign policy beginning, 'It sometimes seems to me'; typewritten with autograph annotations.
4. Lecture on Soviet foreign policy, with related notes. Begins, 'We must try to be clear what we mean by peaceful co-existence'; annotated with a list of venues and dates; typewritten with autograph annotations and notes.
5. Lecture entitled, 'Co-existence and Diplomacy'; typewritten with autograph annotations.
6. Two typewritten copies of an incomplete lecture on 'Britain and the Communist World', the second with autograph amendments.
7. Two copies of a lecture relating to East-West relations, the first with a summary on the first folio. Begins, 'Crystal-gazing is a mug's game'.
8. Typewritten extracts from communist newspapers from various countries on 'Peace and War', 'Peaceful Co-existence', foreign policy and imperialism.
9. Autograph article on Andrey Andreyevich Gromyko; circa 1980s. For Hayter’s review of Gromyko’s biography, see Add. 84902.
10. Lecture notes, mostly autograph: i) entitled, 'Sov[iet] F[oreign] P[olicy]', including a transcript of the BBC's 'The World Today' regarding Soviet presence in Cuba, Oct 1962; ii) relating to Perestroika; iii) entitled, 'Britain and Russia in the 1930s: The View from the Embassy'; iv) concerning international relations in the mid-1950s; v) notes beginning, 'World united by technology, divided by ideology'; vi) unidentified notes.
