Fragments of 'The Sleeping Bard': a translation from the Welsh of Ellis Wynne by George Borrow; [1857-1860?].
1. Autograph fair copy, with revisions, of the Preface, written on both sides of two folio leaves of grey laid paper. No watermark.
2. Two autograph fair copies, with revisions, of ll. 1-20 of 'The Perishing World', written on one side only of two quarto leaves of blue laid paper. Watermarks part of the figure of Britannia (f. 55) and '1857' (f. 56). The MS. on f. 55 is entitled 'The Perishing World'.
3. Autograph fair copy of stanza seven of 'Death the Great', written on one side only of an octavo leaf, torn from a larger leaf, of blue wove paper. No watermark. The stanza is marked with a cross as if for insertion into an already existing text.
4. Letter from George Borrow to his wife, headed '53 A Pall Mall', and telling of discussions for the publication of 'The Sleeping Bard', and a journey to see the 'Great Eastern' at Greenwich; [1859?].
