'Sir Henry Tunstall': a poem by Patrick Branwell Brontë; 1838. Autograph fair copy, with revisions, written in minute characters on both sides of six octavo leaves of ruled cream wove paper. No watermark. The poem is dated at the beginning 'Bradford July 31st 1838'. First published in A. H. Japp, De Quincey Memorials, 1891, from another text sent by Branwell to De Quincey on 15 April 1840. It has been suggested that the present MS. is in the hand of Emily Brontë, though not composed by her. Comparison of the letter forms, however, with known examples of Emily's and Branwell's hands proves this not to be the case. Ashley Library Catalogue, i. p. 82, where the poem is wrongly attributed to Emily Brontë under the title of 'The Wanderer'.
Octavo; ff. iii+6.
