'A Satire on Satirists' by Walter Savage Landor; 1836-circa 1840. A copy of the first printed edition, 1836, with autograph corrections and additions by the author, and autograph notes by Richard Henry Horne, to whom the volume was given by the author (see f. 1b). There are additions or corrections by Landor on pp. 5, 8-16, 18, 19, 23-28, 30-34. Between pp. 8 and 9 is a piece of paper originally used as a billet de change, and dated 'Heidelberg le 1 Sepbr 1836', on which are 14 lines of verse in pencil and in Landor's hand, alternately in English and French, at the foot of which Landor has written 'St Antoine translates Goethe'. Beneath these lines Horne has written 'I found this scrap here when Landor gave me the book. The alternate English and French lines may have been intended for insertion, but I do not see where. R. H. H.'. Between pp. 10 and 11 is inserted another piece of paper, containing lines apparently intended for inclusion after l. 8 on p. 11. The book was, however, never reprinted.
