'Rosamund, Queen of the Lombards': a tragedy by A. C. Swinburne; 1899. The drama was first published on 26 Oct. 1899. Ashley Library Catalogue, vi, pp. 199-200. As follows:―
1. Autograph fair copy, with revisions, of a prose synopsis of the drama, with notes on previous treatments of the story, possibly a rejected introduction; [1899]. The MS. is written on both sides of a quarto leaf of blue wove paper. No watermark. In a letter to Mary Leith dated 11 Sept. 1899, speaking of 'Rosamund', Swinburne says '. . . I wrote it all in the month of June. . .' (C. Y. Lang, Swinburne Letters, vi, 1962, p. 141). ff. 154, 154b.
2. Autograph draft of the Dedication, written on one side only of four quarto leaves of blue wove paper. No watermark. The MS. is entitled 'Dedication / 1899', and stanzas 7, 8 and 9 are numbered, all in Swinburne's hand. The final text found in the draft differs from that first printed in the second edition, 1900, by four words. ff. 155-158.
