'Hafbur and Signe': a ballad translated from the Danish by George Borrow; [before 1857?]. Autograph fair copy, with a few revisions, mostly in pencil, written on both sides of nine quarto leaves of blue wove paper, on one side only of a tenth, and on one side only of two leaves of blue laid paper (ff. 9, 10). Watermark (ff. 9, 10 only) figure of Britannia. The MS. is entitled in Borrow's hand as above. For the dating of this MS. see the description of 2396. Bound up with the MS. is a copy of Wise's privately printed Hafbur and Signe, 1913 (ff. 1-2, 16-25). Printed in The Works of George Borrow, vii, 1923, pp. 280-306. Ashley Library Catalogue, i, p. 51.
