The page references in the notes correspond to the pages of the printed book. Some of the information given by Furnivall is included in Letters, but by no means all. Possibly Furnivall had seen the page proofs of the edition. At the head of the first leaf is a question in Wise's hand concerning the contents of the letter from Browning to Furnivall dated 28 Sept. 1884. [Ashley Library Catalogue, i, p. 138].
