'The Polish Question A Note on the joint Protectorate of the Western Powers and Russia' by Joseph Conrad; [1916?]. Autograph draft of additional comments written on one side only of a folio leaf of ruled white wove paper. Watermark 'ENGLISH MADE BANK / ROCK BROS LTD.'. The draft is entitled 'Add al. p. to Joint Protectorate note' (below the title is the deleted figure '15') and signed 'Joseph Conrad'. At the end of Clement Shorter's private printing of The Polish Question (1919) is the note 'Written in 1916 - - J.C.'. The additional material, which is not included in Shorter's printing, presumably may have been written at the same time. Ashley Library Catalogue, i, p. 245.
