'Verses written on the . . . Day of . . . in the year . . .': a poem by George Crabbe; after 1807. Autograph fair copy, entitled as above, written on both sides of an octavo leaf of white laid paper, and on one side only of another, conjoined, leaf. Watermark 'BE & S 1807 BATH?'. The verses were first printed, apparently from this MS. which was at that time in the possession of Harry Buxton Forman, in Poems by George Crabbe, ed. A. W. Ward, vol. iii, 1907, p. 510, where they were given the title 'Hopeless Love'. The text is identical, except that the editor has accepted a pencil revision 'still' for 'this' in line 37, which has compelled him to print 'All that' in square brackets instead of 'And all' at the beginning of l. 38. [Ashley Library Catalogue, i, p. 263].
