'Ballade Tragique à Double Refrain': a satirical poem by Max Beerbohm; 1912. Autograph fair copy, written on one side only of a folio leaf of cream laid paper. Watermark 'Wessex Antique'. The MS. is inscribed 'For E. G. [Edmund Gosse] / 1912 / Max'. f. 1. Also included is a letter from Beerbohm to Gosse, 14 Dec. 1913, concerning his attempt to capture 'that "placid and easy" smile of Lady Dorothy' [Nevill], and praising Gosse's memoir of Lady Dorothy (An Open Letter, 1913). ff. 2, 2b.
