Notebook with notes of events in the life of William Congreve, by Edmund Gosse; 1888. On f. 1 is the note 'Began Feb. 20 1888. Finished May 29 1888'. Gosse's Life of William Congreve was published in July 1888. The book used is a Board of Trade ruled notebook. Also included is a letter from Philip Gosse to T. J. Wise (ff. i, ib), sending the present volume and mentioning that he had found 'three little volumes once belonging to Shelley', 23 June 1928, and two reader's tickets (ff. ii, iii), signed by Gosse and dated 30 May 1888, for Additional MS. 28,275 in the British Museum.
