Seven Poems by Alfred, Lord Tennyson; 1834-after 1838. Copies, all with variations from the published text. In his notes, printed and MS. (ff. i-iii), Charles Frere Stopford Warren states inter alia that the copies 'were made by my father in 1834 from other copies belonging to Mr. Douglas Heath, late Fellow of Trinity . . . Mr. Heath, I believe, though I am not absolutely certain, had made his copies directly from the Laureate's original MS. Articles (1) to (6) are written on both sides of seventeen tall quarto leaves of white wove paper. The seventeen leaves form part of a quire of ten sheets folded to form twenty leaves. Watermark 'Rye Mill / 1838'. Article (7) is written on both sides of six large quarto leaves of grey wove paper, and on one side only of a further leaf of the same. Watermark 'W King / 1831'. At the end of the MS. (f. 27) is a note 'Copied Octr 15. 1834. from a manuscript in the possession of Mr Thomson [sic]. As follows:―

2. 'Morte d'Arthur'. ff. 3-8.
3. Verses beginning 'Once more the Heavenly Power', resembling in part the verses first printed as 'Early Spring' in 1883. ff. 8b-9.
4. Verses beginning 'O that 'twere possible', afterwards Canto XXIV of 'Maud' as first published. ff. 9b-10.
5. 'Thoughts of a Suicide', a shorter version of 'The Two Voices'. ff. 11-16b.
6. 'Christmas Eve. 1833', afterwards Section XXX of 'In Memoriam'. ff. 17, 17b.
7. 'The Antechamber', a longer version of 'The Gardener's Daughter', dated 15 Oct. 1834. Privately printed, apparently from this MS., in 1906. ff. 21-27.
