Collections relating to A. C. Swinburne, formed by his publishers, John Camden Hotten and Andrew Chatto; 1866-1914. The bulk of the volume consists of press notices of Swinburne's works and other newspaper cuttings relating to him. It includes also cheques endorsed by Swinburne and receipts signed on his behalf (ff. 10, 11, 25, 39, 42, 44, 88, 90-92), bills rendered to him (ff. 50, 69, 105, 137)), various scraps of his handwriting (ff. 1, 87, 98, 172, 178, 199), and correspondence of and relating to Swinburne. The collection was sold at Sotheby's, 29 July 1916, by Mrs Isabel Brocklesby, daughter of Andrew Chatto, and purchased by T. J. Wise from Maggs Bros. a few days later.
