MAX STAFFORD-CLARK PAPERS. VOL. LVI. 'Our Lady of Sligo', by Sebastian Barry; performed by the Out Of Joint company (as a co-production with the Royal National Theatre) originally at the Playhouse Oxford 26 March 1998, transferring to the Cottesloe stage of the National Theatre, 9 April 1998. 2nd draft, 1 June 1997. Very extensively annotated by Stafford-Clark in pencil, both ordinary and red, with huge numbers of cuts. There are also substitute pages in photostat copy further cut and annotated, and on occasion passages of revised script sent direct from playwright to director (apparently at Stafford-Clark's suggestion) during the rehearsal period. Additional material includes information sheets for the cast and backstage crew for both the Oxford Playhouse and Cottesloe Theatre runs, and Stafford-Clark's sketch of a family tree of the characters in the play with a chronology of their family history.
