Vol. II. (ff. 25). The same plans in the same order, as modified (see specially the plan of the second story), with the descriptive matter in another hand. The last (f. 11 b) has a note by Robert Mylne, the great-grandson, in 1790, of the position of a monument to Alexander Mylne (d. 1643), and of the position of, and inscription on, the foundation stone, "Fun. be Ro. Mylne, MM., Jul. 1671." The plans are followed (f. 14) by the original contract between Sir William Bruce, Bart., Surveyor General, and Sir William Sharp, Knight, Cash Keeper, on the one part, and Robert Mylne, Master Mason, on the other part, for taking down "the aisler [ashlar] worke built by the Inglishe...and the rough worke within upon the west quarter," and for erecting stories of the Ionic and Corinthian orders, etc., dated Holyrood house, March, 1676. Inserted after this contract are four engravings of the Palace as designed above, two by Richard Cooper, circ. 1750, after drawings by William Adam, and one by [Remigius or Nathaniel] Parr, circ. 1750, after a drawing by the Hon. John Elphinstone (ff. 16-21), an engraving of the chapel by Peter Mazell, late 18th cent. (f. 23), after a drawing by Thomas Wyck (d. 1677), and an engraving of Lauder Castle, co. Berwick, built at the same time as Holyrood (f. 25).
