THORESBY PARK PAPERS. Vol. XXI (ii+ 87). Commonplace-book of William Pierrepont, second son of Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston, consisting chiefly of copies of leases, rentals, etc., of the Pierrepont lands in cos. Nott., Linc., and Salop, 1565-1658. Included also are :- (1) Medical recipes of Sir Theodore Turquet de Mayerne, with his signature (f. 3b); 1637-1639. ff. 2-5b;-(2) Prognostications on Robert Pierrepont, 1st Earl of Kingston; 17th cent. f. 6b;-(3) Anagrams and epigrams of Sir Thomas Middleton, Lord Mayor of London 1613; 17th cent. f. 8. Quarto. Bound in brown morocco, with gilt-tooled border and metal clasps. The centre of each cover bears a gilt-stamped design, containing the inscription, 'Anno + Northamptonsheire + 1625'.
