MICHEL SAINT-DENIS ARCHIVE. Vol. L (ff. ). 'Noë', by André Obey, in German translation, with two early programmes for performances of 'Noé' in the original French in London and in Paris in 1931 and 1932. The German translation almost certainly dates from much later in the early 1950s when Saint-Denis was directing the Centre Dramatique de l'Est in Strasbourg and was actively considering the performance of plays for German-speaking audiences. The programmes are from the Arts Theatre Club run of 'Noé' in June 1931, in which Saint-Denis played the part of The Elephant, and from the March 1932 revival in Paris, where Saint-Denis was Noah himself.
