Keyes Papers. Vol. cxli. Commander-in-Chief Portsmouth: Contains Keyes’s letter to Sir Charles Madden (1st Sea Lord) and A. V. Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty) on the suitability of Adm. Sir Michael Hodges for the command of the Mediterranean Station; Cmd. 3556 giving details of the naval armament limitation and reduction treaty, printed; a covering note for a gift from the officers at Portsmouth on the occasion of Keyes’s departure; the programme of music to be played at Keyes’s departure ceremony, signed by his staff; and Keyes’s reports on officers proposed for promotion;5 March 1930 – 14 Aug. 1931, n.d. Keyes assumed the position of C-in-C Portsmouth in April 1929. Whilst in post he was promoted Admiral of the Fleet, in May 1930. In June 1931 he relinquished his command and retired from the service.
