The originals of the typewritten copies, and of other letters printed in the former work, were destroyed by Dorothy Collins on the instructions of Frances Chesterton, as recorded in a note by Dorothy Collins prefixed to the letters (f. 9). Some other typewritten copies are to be found in the working papers assembled by Maisie Ward in Add. 73481 B.

5. ff. 48-49. Letter from Gertrude Blogg, sister of Frances, to G. K. Chesterton; 1898. Gertrude Blogg was secretary to Rudyard Kipling and was engaged to Reginald Brimley Johnson, who became Chesterton's first publisher, when she was fatally injured in a road accident in 1899. Published in part in M. Ffinch, op. cit., p. 56.
