Correspondence, partly copies, between Chesterton and Hubert James Foss and Christopher Victor Hely-Hutchinson on the possibility of a musical setting. Foss had set the song 'Castlepatrick', published 1925, and Hely-Hutchinson had set 'Castlepatrick', 'The rolling English road' and 'Who goes home', published 1930 (for scores, see Add. 73452). A letter from W. P. Watt to Dorothy Collins is in Add. 73222, ff. 72-77, enclosing the typed text of the additional songs and a recommendation that they should not be published.

22. ff. 118-120. Contents list for a projected compilation of essays entitled 'The English spirit'; circa 1948. Typewritten. The first leaf is inscribed "Cancelled list" in the hand of Dorothy Collins. The surviving typescripts and cuttings, foliated in red ink, which would have formed this compilation are kept with contributions to periodicals or other works, or, if used as copy for subsequent compilations, with those compilations.
