S. Charles Nichols, Rector of Adisham, co. Kent: prayer composed on behalf of Katherine Oxinden; n.d., circa 1659-1667. Autograph. These unsigned 'Sympathetical Pleadings wth heauen for a friend' reflect on some crisis in the life of the recipient, Katherine, second wife of Henry Oxenden of Barham and Denton, co. Kent. The address-leaf carries the direction 'These ° For his much respected friend ms Katherine Oxinden ° present ° Denton'. Further letters of Nichols are preserved among the Oxenden Papers in Add. MSS 28004 and 44847. Purchased from J. L. M. Gulley, March 1998.
