Walpole Papers. Vol. ccxxxvi. ( ff. ). Bound vol.: " Sketch of Mr Walpoles conduct from the accession of this family [ " to " blotted, possibly deleted ] "; autobiographical account of Walpole's political career and of contemporary events from 1715 to the capture of Porto Bello, 22 Nov. 1741; apparently incomplete ( unfinished ? ); the last entries concerning Porto Bello seem to have been written some time after the event, possibly after Sir Robert's loss of office in February 1742; on the last folio is what seems to be a first attempt at a concluding paragraph; a version of the work described by Coxe, Lord Walpole, p. xiii, as Walpole's " Apology "; this latter version, of which extracts were published by Coxe, ( see for instance Lord Walpole, pp. 177 - 179; 1735 ), apparently began in 1715 and ended in 1739; the latter was sold at Christies, 29 May 1986, lot 115; draft; see also Add. MS 9132 for another copy of the " Apology "; imperf. ?; n.d. [1730s - aft. Nov. 1741?].
