G. Letter from Abel-François Poisson, Marquis de Marigny, Director General of Works, to M. Berthier, referring to the orders the latter had received to draw a new map of Versailles and its surroundings, and stating that the writer will order the Contrôleurs des Bâtiments du Roi in the area to provide Berthier and his engineers with all they will need; Compiègne, 12 July 1767. Signed. French. Together with a copy of a letter from the Département des Cartes et Plans, Bibliothèque Nationale, identifying the map as the second part of the topographical map of the Versailles area called 'Carte des Chasses du Roi', surveyed in 1767-1768. Purchased from J. L. M. Gulley, July 1989.
