FAIRFAX MEMOIRS, ETC. Vol. I. Thomas, 3rd Baron Fairfax, 'A short memoriall of some things to be cleared during my Command in ye Army' and 'A short memoriall of the Northerne Actions during ye war there, from ye yeare 1642 till 1644'; circa 1671-1699. The fly-leaf inscription, 'A short account of Some passages in the Civill warr by Tho: Lord Fairfax ... transcribed from his own manuscript by his nephew, Tho: Hutton of Poppleton Esq.' is in the hand of Sir Thomas Rokeby, to whom the manuscript was given by Hutton. For other manuscripts of this work, see Harl. 1786, 2315 and 6390, and Add. 25708. The text of the present manuscript was largely printed in the Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research, V (1926), pp. 119-125 and 160-174.
