DOVASTON MUSIC MANUSCRIPTS (SERIES II). Vol. IV. Collection of songs, duets, glees, etc., together with a few keyboard pieces or arrangements, mostly from published sources; compiled 1805, 1815-1824. The vocal music includes works by R. J. Stevens, Dr. W. Crotch, Mozart, Handel, J. W. Callcott, W. Shield, H. Purcell, C. Dibdin, S. Webbe, and friends such as J. C. Clifton. The keyboard music consists mainly of excerpts arranged from works by Handel with a few pieces by Mozart, J. B. Cramer, and Sir H. Bishop. In the hand of J. F. M. Dovaston who describes the collection in an inscription on the paste-down (f. iii) as 'one of my favourite bundles'. Details of sources, dates and places of transcription are given passim.
