AYRTON PAPERS. Vol. XXIII (ff. 76). Journal of William Ayrton, organist of Ripon and uncle of William Ayrton, relating to a visit to London in 1786; 1786, circa 1866. The volume consists of (ff. 1-20v) the initial portion of the original journal, 15 May - 16 June 1786, which supplements Add. 52352, and (ff. 22-75) an annotated transcript of the whole journal, 15 May - 29 June 1786, by William Scrope Ayrton, son of William Ayrton, dated (f. 75) 1866. The autograph part was given to W. S. Ayrton by William Frances Morrell Ayrton, of Chester, son of the author.
