[on] HMS Blenheim between 30th August and 4th September 1840 and completed by John Pascoe second master of Blenheim . . .', signed 'Jno Pascoe, Sept. 8th 1840'. 1:126720. 'Scale half an inch to a mile'. Scale bar of 9 miles (= 4.5 inches). Map oriented with West at top. '1702' in the title is clearly a mistake for '1802'; Alexander Dalrymple was the first Hydrographer to the Navy 1795-1808. The map was made for use in operations connected with the First Opium War 1839-1842. Capt. Le Fleming Senhouse, who had commissioned the Blenheim in 1839, and taken her directly to the China Seas, died of a fever during operations at Canton in 1841. R.U.S.I. no. V 5.15.
