1. 'Sketch of the River St Lawrence from Lake Ontario to Montreal by an Onondaga Indian', by Guy Johnson; 1759. No scale given. Place-names in native Indian language. Map dates from the period when Johnson was commanding a company of rangers under Gen. Amherst. In 1774 Johnson succeeded his uncle Sir William as superintendent of the Indian department, but after the War of Independence, the Americans confiscated his estates. The accounts of the Indian department for part of Johnson's term of office 1777-1783 are Add. 20769, 20770. Amherst no. A 81. R.U.S.I. no. A 28.47.
