'A plan of the River Kennebeck as it was surveyed by order of the Government of Massachusets Bay in the year MDCCLXI from the falls above Halifax unto the place where the surveyor John Small was killed, from his field book, with the addition of lower part of river by Fra. Miller, Lieut.'. No scale given. Cf. K. Top. CXIX.23 and 25: the latter, by Lieut. Montresor, assisted by Lieut. Shaw, is much larger and more detailed, and although that survey was also made in 1751, it covered different terrain and was undertaken under different auspices. Amherst no. A 17. R.U.S.I. no. The map, which shows the two watercourses and a path between them, was intended to accompany the report by Ensign Wilson on an expedition up the Black River; details are given in a contemporary note attached to the map.
