JEAN RHYS PAPERS. Vol. I (ff. 82). Disbound notebook pages containing pencil drafts, mostly for After Leaving Mr Mackenzie (1931) and Voyage in the Dark (1934), followed (ff. 54v-82v) by pencil and ink drafts of a later incomplete and unpublished play, 'English Harbour', set in 18th-century Barbados; bef. 1931-circa 1964. The drafts of After Leaving Mr Mackenzie include parts of chapters 6, 7 and 12; those of Voyage in the Dark (ff. 48v-51v), their inclusion here suggesting that the two novels were in part written at the same time, are for Part III, VII, pp. 207-209.
