Vol. I. Terrier-Book made for Thomas Rufford, of his lands in Butlers Manor in Edlesborough, co. Bucks.; 18 Ed. IV (1478-1479). Latin. On 15 Oct. 1478 Thomas Rufford had received licence to enter into the lands of his father, Robert (d. 1471), cf. Cat. Patent Rolls, 1476- 1485, P. 116. Followed (ff. 8-15) by a similar terrier, in English, of the lands of his nephew, John Rufford, mainly in Butlers, Eastbury and Bowells manors, in Edlesborough, co. Bucks., and Eaton Bray, co. Bedf.; 1535. On the descent ofthe lands see f. ii, V.C.H., Bucks., iii, PP. 350-356, and V.C.H., Bedf., iii, P. 372. Paper (except f. 16, vellum); ff. iii + 19. Folio. 1478-1479, 1535. The vellum cover bears (f. i) the signature 'Tho. Kidggell' for whom, as tenant of Butlers manor circ. 1700, see Add. MS. 42522, ff. 15-117 passim.
