'Rotherhithe in the olden time', drama in two acts by James Elphinstone. Licence sent 28 June 1854 for performance at the Pavilion 27 June 1854. 'This MS was accepted in place of another entitled “Rotherhithe in the olden time, or, The female highwayman”, which was refused a licence by the Lord Chamberlain on the 22nd June' written on title page. LCO Day Book Add. 53703 records the stipulation that a few passages, apparently picked out for their immoral content, be omitted. For the version refused a licence, see Add. MS 52948 E.
