'The king's rival', drama in five acts by 'John Roakes' (i.e., Tom Taylor) and Charles Reade. Licence sent 16 September 1854 for performance at the St. James’s 25 September 1854. Signed by Laura Seymour. Revisions throughout. LCO Day Book Add. 53703 records the stipulation that a passage about an angel be omitted and that the words 'Lord' and 'God' be substituted with the word 'Heaven'. According to Nicoll, published in Lacy's, but reference has not been verified.
