'The ticket of leave' ('The ticket-of-leave man'), drama in three acts and a prologue by Tom Taylor. The date of licence for the May 1863 performance at the Olympic not noted on the script, but LCO Day Book Add. 52703 records date of licence as 27 May 1863. MS written in more than one hand. Corrections written in ink, cues in pencil. Several actors’ names written opposite script. Listed in Nicoll as 'The ticket-of-leave man', as it is in the Lacy's edition (vol. 59, no. 871). Founded on a French dramatic tale Le retour de Melun, included in Les drames de la vie by E. Brisebarre and E. Nus (Paris, 1860). For other versions, see Add. 53017 P, 53024 A, and Add. 53023 O.
