Opera in four acts. Licence sent 31 October 1864 for performance at Covent Garden. An address label headed 'From William Mackenzie, Bookseller and Publisher, 47 Howard Street, Glasgow' addressed to 'G. A. Macfarren, 11 Alpha Road, London N.W.' with two Penny Red stamps included on folio 80. Nicoll notes the music was by G. A. Macfarren. LCO Day Book (Add MS 53703) records that the Bible must not be produced in representation and so the line 'Upon this holy book I swear' must be omitted.
