Drama in two acts. Licence sent 22 February 1868 for performance at the Britannia. Samuel Lane noted as the theatre proprietor on folio 1. The name of the author is not noted on the script but Nicoll attributes the play to C. H. Hazlewood under the title 'The young apprentice, or, The watchwords of Old London'. Folios 7-8 contain a letter from Henry Leslie to William Bodham Donne, from the Royal Amphitheatre Liverpool and dated 25 August 1878, asking for permission to copy one of his previously submitted plays, 'Friendship, Love and Truth'. The play in question is Add MS 53066 H and the letter appears to have found itself here erroneously.
