The majority of the correspondence is from Bacon to Jellicoe and relates to: The Dover Patrol; aerial reconnaissance, photography and bombardment; the Royal Naval Air Service; and plans for attacks on the Belgian coast.
Includes correspondence relating to submarines, torpedoes, minefields, anti-aircraft guns, tanks, the effects of bad weather on flight, wireless telegraphy, aeroplanes, seaplanes, airships and aerodromes. Also includes reference to Jellicoe’s dismissal from the post of First Sea Lord.
Contains aerial photographs showing targets before and after bombardment, with the names of photographers and pilots on the reverse. Also contains photographs of tanks.
