1. ff. 1-15b. An imperfect draft and an unfinished fair copy of a translation by Napier into Modern Greek of his unpublished Essay on Light Infantry, together with drafts (ff. 11b, 15b) of his verse translation of a Greek oath, with the original Greek text; 1824. The draft of the Essay has been transferred from Add. MS. 54562 in the Sir C. J. Napier Papers.
2. ff. 16-25b. Two accounts by Napier of the Battle of Coruña on 16 Jan. 1809, followed (f. 25b) by a draft essay in French; [1830?].
3. ff. 26-41b. Imperfect draft and fair copy of an essay by Napier on the Ionian Islands; [1830?].
4. ff. 42-63. Essay by a British officer, a friend of Sir Neil Campbell, on Napier's edition of Count Alfred Victor de Vigny's Servitude et grandeur militaires, published as Lights and Shadows of Military Life, 1840. Imperfect at the beginning.
