'THE TRIAL OF FAITH; or Afflictions sanctified: with the Privileges of Believers and the Glory of the Church; taken from the sure testimony of the Holy Scriptures. By James Illingworth, D. D., Lecturer of St. Alphage, London Wall.' Holograph. The title-page is dated 20 Apr. 1789, but the author states at the end of the preface that alterations and additions have been made in revision, and the MS. was finished on 30 Apr. 1790. His letter to -, dated 8 May, 1790, asking that the MS. may be laid before the King, is inserted at the beginning.
Paper; ff. 295. Quarto. 10 1/2.x 8in. A.D.1789-1790. Bound in dark blue morocco, gilt-tooled, with the arms of George III stamped on the covers.
