P. VIRGILII MARONIS Opera, viz. Bucolica, f. 1;-
Georgica, f. 15 b;-Aeneis, f. 55. The argument-verses in each case are the same as in King'S 24 (see above), except that the quatrain for Georg. iii is omitted. It agrees with 24 also in containing the four verses ' Ille ego', &c., at the beginning of the Aeneid, and in omitting Aen.ii.567-588. Between the Georgics and the Aeneid on a blank leaf (f. 54 b) are the pseudo-Virgilian distich (cf Royal MS. 15 B. xix, art. 43) 'Nocte pluit tota', &c., and the five lines (ib. art. 44) ' Hos ego uersiculos', &c. (Riese, nos. 256, 257). Other omissions, partly due to carelessness of the scribe, are Ecl. ii. 44 - 47; Georg. iii.
56; Aen. vii. 587, viii. 272, 569, ix. 29, x. 278, 279, 285, Xi. 205.
Vellum; ff. i + 228. 7 1/4 in. x 4 3/4 in. XV cent. In a small Italian hand. Gatherings of 10 leaves ( iv 14, end of Georgics, last 6), with catchwords at right angles to text. Sec. fol. 'hinc tibi'. Two small illuminated initials (ff. 1, 55 b), others flourished in coloured inks. Vellum binding (18th cent.).
