'STATUTAET ordinamenta Hominum et Communis Terre, Nicolle [Nicola, near Sarzana, in the extreme west of the territory of Genoa] Lunensis diecesis, facta ...sub anno domini 1406 indictione 3a a die 13 mensis Iunii.' From a notarial clause at the end of ch. lxxxvi (f. 48) it would appear that the statutes so far were codified and ratified 21 Nov. 1496. Ch. 1xxxvii-cii, with a series of confirmations and decrees by the Genoese Republic, &c. (a few in Italian), carry the laws on to A. D. 1603. At the end (f. 7i) are copies of three letters in Italian of Francesco Franciosi, consul of Nicola, on communal business; 1714-1717. A table of contents (f. 2) is prefixed to the statutes. Paper; ff. 73. Quarto. 81/4 in. x 51/2 in. Early XVIII cent. Half-bound in red leather, marbled end-papers. A note on f. 1 is 'ex codicibus D. Petri Alexandri Bulli, I. V. D.'
