'ESSAI HISTORIQUE sur le caractere de Henri le Lion' [Duke of Saxony and Bavaria, d. 1195], by Johann Daniel Gruber, Counsellor and Librarian to George II at Hanover, preceded by the author's letter presenting the MS. to the King, signed and dated Hanover, 30 July, 1735. Engravings are given (a) of the seals of the Canons of the Holy Sepulchre, of Amaury, patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection, and of Amaury I, King of Jerusalem (1162-1173), from an original grant, preserved 'dans les archives de St. Blaise à Bronsuic', by Duke Henry to the Holy Sepulchre, f. 19;-and (b) of three seals of Duke Henry. f. 36. Gruber is said to have left an unpublished history of Brunswick, and for this, or some other unpublished work, the engravings may have been prepared. Paper; ff. 46. Quarto. 11 1/2 in. x 9 1/4 in. Circ. A.D. 1735. Binding of white vellum.
