Two SPANISH historical works (see Gayangos Cat. of MSS. in the Span. Language in the Bril. Museum, i, P. 219), viz. :-
1. 'Annales del Emperador Carlos V', by Francisco Lopez de Gomara (d. circ. 1560). Printed from a Madrid MS. collated with the present, with an English translation, by R. B. Merriman, Oxford, 1912. f. 1.
2. 'Cõmentarios de vn Cauallero y soldado biejo de los de la Cesarea Magd del Empor Carlos V, de la Guerra de Tunez y succesos del Año de 1535.' Gayangos conjectured this to be the work of Don Luis de Avila y Zuniga, see Antonio, Bibl. Hisp. Nova, ii, p. 21. f 121. At the end of the second treatise (f. 180 b) is the following colophon, which may apply to the second only or to both treatises, and is perhaps copied from an archetype, 'Acauose de transladar en Madrid vispera del Corpus del Ano de 1635 y sacose a lo que pareçia de su original que auia sido de don Antonio de Çayas y despues de Don Sancho de Londoño'. Paper; ff. 181. 8 in. x 51/4in. XVII cent. Probably belonged to Dr. William Robertson ; see Sotheby's sale-cat. 10-15 May, 1786, lot 1558, and cf. King's 215-222.
