MEMORIALS of the House of Lüneburg, viz.:-
1. Series of coloured portraits of German Emperors (of the Saxon line), Dukes and Electors of Saxony, and Dukes of Brunswick and Lüneburg, and of their wives, from Henry the Fowler, Duke of Saxony [el. King of Germany, 919]; taken from monuments, &c., at Lüneburg and elsewhere by Hieronymus Henniges al. Henninges, preacher at Lüneburg. The date of the title is 1581 and Henninges died in 1597, but the portraits and their titles are continued to George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (b. 1582, d. 1641). Each portrait is accompanied by a shield of arms. Added (ff. 77 b, 78) is a drawing illustrating, apparently, the conquests of Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria (d. 1195), whose emblem, the white horse of Hanover, is in the centre, surrounded by the emblems and arms of the temporal and spiritual lords who at any time fell under his sway, each emblem having an epigrammatic couplet in rhyme. f. 1.
2. Genealogical and descriptive tables showing the origin and progress of the various emperors, kings, and princes in Germany, Italy, and France, having their source in, or connexion with, the House of Lüneburg; by the same. German. The notes are continued to 1593, though the date on the title (f. 79) is 1580. A similar work by the same author, entitled Genealogiae imperatorum, regum, principum eleciorum, ducum, comitum el dynastarum qui circo Saxonco . . . comprehenduntur, was published at Uelzen, near Lüneburg, in 1587. f. 79.
