Journal believed to be by Lord Adam Gordon, but not in his hand. The author briefly describes the people, manners, products, government, defences, &c., of the principal places which he visited on his route, which was to Madeira, Antigua, St. Christopher, Jamaica, northward through Yucatan Channel and the Gulf of Mexico to Pensacola, Santa Rosa, Mobile, and Isle Dauphin on the northern coast of the GuIf, southward to Cuba (where he was not allowed to land) through the Gulf of Florida, along the east coast of Florida, through the seaboards of Georgia S. Carolina, N. Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York; across the lastnamed province to Lake Ontario, Niagara, Lake Erie, down the R. St. Lawrence to Montreal and Quebec, Lake Champlain, Lake George, through Connecticut and Massachusetts to Boston, Newport, and New York, whence he sailed for England, 14 Oct. 1765. Besides his remarks on Canada on f 52 b the author has added (f. 59) 'some thoughts relative to Canada as it appeared affected in 1765'. Paper; ff. 69. Quarto. 91/2 in. x 71/4 in. XVIII cent.
