THREE TREATISES, in Spanish, relating to Mexico (see Gayangos, Cat. of MSS. in the Spanish Language in the Brit. Museum, 1875-1893, ii, p. 430), as follows:-
1. ' Relazion sumaria y puntual del tumulto y sedizion que hubo en M[exico] los 15 de Henero de 1624 y de las cosas mas notables que le prez[edieron] y despues se han seguido hasta los 6 de Marzo del dicho año; siend[o Vi]rrey de la Nueva España el señor Don Diego Pimentel, Conde de Priego y Marqu[es de] Gelues.' Beg. 'De las cosas y casos'. f. 1.
2. 'Tumulto de Mexico el dia ocho de Iunio de mill seiscientos noventa y dos por causa de carestia de maiz, siendo Virrey el excelentisimo senor [Gaspar de la Cerda-Sandoval, Silva y Mendoza] Conde de Galves.' f 53.
3. 'Tumulto en Tlaxcala poco despues del sucedido en Mexico, en tiempo del senor Galves, siendo Governador de aquella provincia Don Fernando de Bustamante, tambien por carestia de maiz.' f 55. Followed (f. 56) by a printed treatise [Mexico, 1689?] by Fr. Manuel de Cabrera, on the projected draining of the Mexican lakes, entitled 'Verdad aclarada y desvanecidas Imposturas con que lo ardiente de una pluma poderosa. . . quiso persuadir averse acabado y perficionado el ano de 1675 la Fabrica del real Desague de la insigne Ciudad de Mexico'. Paper; ff. 119. Folio. XVII cent. This and the next seven MSS. are from the library of Dr. William Robertson the historian (see his Hist. of America, 1817 ed., preface and list of authorities in vol. i, note xxix in vol. iii), and were sold at Sotheby's with Jonathan Toups library, 16 May, 1786. This is lot 1546. Cf King's 165. The purchaser was - Dalrymple.
