'SAPIENTIA VETERUM': an Alchemical treatise in Latin and English, the English title being 'The Wisdom of the Antients or Theire Doctrine of the Cheif and Universal Medicine, whereby human health being intire may be preserved in the same state ... and also the leprosie of mettalls may be totally taken away: unfolded in fourty hieroglyphicks, to which are added theire explanations', &c. Each of the forty 'hieroglyphicks' (coloured drawings) is accompanied by a chapter of Latin text, with an English translation, and after ch. xl, and a short note (f. 84) in English only, twenty-seven hieroglyphics are added without text. Other copies are Sloane MS. 12, and in the Bodleian Library, Ashmole MS. 1456, and in the library of St. Mary's Hall, Oxford (now at Oriel College), MSS. v (Latin only, entitled Coronatio Naturae) and vi.
