'POESIE SATIRICHE del Sig. Cav. Bartolommeo Dotti' (d. 1712), consisting of fifty-three satires and sonnets. Two volumes in one. A volume of Dotti's Rime e Sonetti was published at Venice in 1689, while the Satires were-- first printed at Geneva (or perhaps Paris, see article quoted below, p. 57) in I757, and subsequently in 1790 and 1807 (OP. cit. P. 76). The present collection includes, but in a different order, Sat. i-x, xii-xvi, xviii-xx, xxiixxvii xxix, xxxi, xxxv, xxxvi, xxxviii-xlvi, xlix, li (the latter of the two thus numbered), and lii of the 1757 edition, seven of the fourteen sonnets (ff. 258, 260, 262, 263, 264, 267, 269) corresponding with Sat. xxxi, xxvii, xxxiv, xxix, xxxv, xxxvi, xxxviii. Pieces which are not in the printed edition occur at ff. 186,190, 217, 225, 228, 247, 255, 258 b, 259, 259 b, 261, 265, 266, 268. MS. 31039 contains another selection from the Satires.
Paper; ff. 269. Octavo. 63/4 in. x 41/2 in. XVIII cent. Belonged to Joseph Smith, Consul at Venice (Bibl. Smith., p. cliv).
